Expedition organizers in Nepal said on Thursday (May 13) that two climbers from the United States and Switzerland were killed on Mount Everest, the first two deaths this season this year.
The Mingma Sherpa of Seven Summit Treks told AFP: “Two climbers died on Wednesday.”
Chhang Dawa from the same organization said that the Swiss climber was exhausted after reaching the top of the mountain and died near the top of the mountain. “We sent two other Sherpa people, along with oxygen and food, but unfortunately, the Sherpa people couldn’t save him.”
Organizers said that after reaching the Hillary Step, the American climber suffered from snow blindness and was exhausted. With the assistance of others, he reached Camp 4, but unfortunately passed away.
