Russia’s largest cut diamond ever-a diamond weighing 100.94 carats is scheduled to be auctioned in Geneva this month.
When the diamond, called Alrosa Spectacle, was auctioned in Geneva on the 12th of this month, it was estimated to be sold for 12 to 18 million Swiss francs.
Reuters quoted Christie’s auction house jewelry expert Chisamoro as saying: “This outstanding 100 carat D color diamond was cut from a 200-carat rough diamond mined in 2016.” D grade is the highest grade (transparent and colorless).
She said: “From the rough diamond to the diamond we are going to auction, it took a year and eight months for the craftsmen to cut this flawless diamond.”
There are another 143 auction items in the same auction with this diamond, most of which are rings, earrings, brooches, and other jewelry set with diamonds, sapphires, and rubies.
