Large-scale demonstrations in London, UK on Saturday (April 24) triggered clashes between police and civilians. Eight police officers were injured and five demonstrators were arrested.
Reuters reported that about 10,000 demonstrators marched in central London that day to protest the government’s request for people to wear masks, vaccinate against coronavirus, and issue vaccine passports.
They chanted “freedom” and “take off the mask”; others held up placards with words such as “medical freedom” and “say no to vaccine passport”.
It is reported that when the demonstrators walked to Hyde Park, clashes broke out with the police. Some people picked up water bottles and other sundries. Several police officers were injured. Two of them had to be sent to hospital with abrasions on their heads.
