Senior EU officials revealed that Russia has assembled more than 150,000 troops on the Ukrainian border.
Reuters reported that the European Union’s senior representative for foreign and security policy Borelli said on Monday (19th) that Russia is currently gathering more than 150,000 soldiers on the Ukrainian border and the Crimea region.
Borelli said that “the risk of further escalation is obvious”, but he said that the EU currently has no plans to impose new sanctions on Russia or expel its diplomats.
The US Department of Defense stated that the number of additional Russian troops on the Ukrainian border exceeded the size of the 2014 Crimean crisis.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba held a meeting with EU foreign ministers earlier, and he called on the EU to impose new sanctions on Russia.
