Myanmar
Myanmar Army releases arrest warrants against internet celebrities.

Reuters quoted reports from Myanmar’s official media that the Myanmar military issued arrest warrants to 20 celebrities on Saturday (3rd) on charges of inciting dissent, including Internet celebrities, singers and models.

Earlier on the same day, Myanmar’s state-run TV station MRTV announced that the military had included 18 people, including actress Paing Phyoe Thu, on the arrest list, and released their webpage snapshots and Facebook profile links.

This means that the Myanmar military ordered the arrest of 38 representatives of the most prominent figures in this democratic movement within one day.

If convicted of incitement to dissent, the maximum penalty is three years in prison.
