Usama Rabie, chairman of the Suez Canal Authority of Egypt, said that the damage caused by the blockage of the canal may reach about 1 billion US dollars.
Reuters reported that Rabia made the above statement in an interview with Egyptian media on Wednesday (March 31). Rabbiye said: “If you calculate the damage and loss caused by the blockage, as well as the consumption of dredgers. If God will, it is estimated that it will reach 1 billion US dollars or more. This is the right of the country.”
Rabie also revealed that after the Suez Canal resumed navigation, as of noon on March 31, 285 cargo ships had passed through the canal smoothly. He said that the remaining 175 freighters waiting to pass through the canal will all pass by April 2.
