Following a train collision last Friday (March 26) that caused more than 100 casualties, a 10-story apartment building in Cairo, the Egyptian capital, suddenly collapsed early in the morning on Saturday (27th). Local media reported that the accident has caused 18 deaths and 24 injuries. The cause of the accident is still unknown.
It can be seen from the online footage that after the apartment collapsed, a large number of people moved the rubble and searched for their relatives. Police and rescue workers later arrived at the scene and searched for survivors among the rubble. According to reports, rescuers rescued a 6-year-old girl that morning, but the condition of her family is unknown.
Residents pointed out that the building was not entirely used for residential purposes, and the lowest two floors were a garment factory. Another resident said that two days before the incident, the apartment was found to be tilted and some people had moved out, but some people had no choice but to stay.
