US President Biden will hold his first official press conference on March 25. Previously, Biden was criticized for not giving reporters a long question and answer time.
Reuters reported that White House Press Secretary Psaki made this announcement in Darby, Pennsylvania. Biden is currently carrying out promotional activities for its US$1.9 trillion (approximately S$2.55 trillion) coronavirus relief package.
Since taking office on January 20, Biden usually only answers one or two questions when he meets reporters and leaves. The White House said that the main reason why Biden did not hold a formal press conference was that he was still busy with the coronavirus pandemic.
Republicans and some media outlets called on Biden to attend a real press conference, saying that this is the traditional role that the President of the United States should play in being responsible to the people.
