The Russian News Agency (RIA) reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree to suspend the implementation of the Medium Range Missile Treaty (INF).
The Russian State Duma passed a bill on June 18th to suspend the implementation of the pilot treaty.
The China-guided treaty prohibits Russia and the United States from developing land-based missiles with a range of 500 to 5,500 kilometers. Both countries refer to each other’s breach of contract. The US State Department announced on February 1 that it will suspend its implementation of the treaty obligations from February 2 and initiate the withdrawal procedure.
